Bisnis.comJAKARTA – Researchers have found volcano elder still spewing hot liquid a mile below sea level off the Pacific coast of Canada.
The expedition team found the former active volcano covered with a giant egg. The volcano rises to 3,600 feet or 1,100 meters.
A marine biologist at Fisheries and Oceans CanadaCherisse Du Preez said the warm, mineral-rich liquid kept the waters around it warm.
It also provides ideal conditions for some sea creatures to survive in the deep sea and explains why many giant eggs are found around the mountain.
“I estimate the top of the seamount, which is covered in eggs at I don’t know 100,000? A million? These eggs are large, measuring around 1.5 feet or 0.5 meters,” Cherisse said as quoted by Live Science on Wednesday (19/7/2023).
The researchers also found new facts about the place which is a fish tank pacific white ray due to hot water temperature.
“It’s a very special place on top of a very special place,” Cherisse said.
According to him, before the expedition, the team believed that the volcano had died out because the waters around it were very cold.
However, during the expedition, the researchers discovered an area of hot water and an ancient volcano.
