Marwahkepri.com – Argentina managed to qualify for the Copa America 2024 final after beating Canada with a score of 2-0 in the semi-final match held at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday (10/7) morning WIB.
This match was a tight one with Argentina scoring the first goal through Julian Alvarez in the 22nd minute, who used a through ball from Rodrigo De Paul. This goal not only gave the Albiceleste the lead but also increased their enthusiasm on the pitch.
Even though Argentina took control with a one-goal lead, Canada didn’t give up so easily and tried to equalize. They had several chances, including an effort from Jacob Shaffelburg in the opening minutes of the match that failed to score. However, Argentina’s solid defense and a brilliant performance from their goalkeeper, Emi Martinez, repelled all of Canada’s attempts at goal.
The second half started with high intensity from both teams. Lionel Messi doubled Argentina’s lead in the 50th minute after taking advantage of the chaos in Canada’s penalty box. That goal was checked by the video assistant referee (VAR) for suspected offside, but the result was that the goal stood.
This advantage made Argentina more confident and able to control the course of the match well.
Late in the game, Canada tried to increase the intensity of their attacks in search of an equalizer. However, their efforts were stopped by Argentina’s tight defense which provided no openings.
However, Canada continued to put in a strong effort until the final whistle with the score at 2-0 against Argentina. This victory not only brought Argentina to the final, but also gave them the opportunity to defend their Copa America title.
