As the political year dawns, Muhammadiyah offers dialogue with community figures with South Sulawesi Acting Governor Bahtiar Baharuddin – Muhammadiyah University News Makassar

UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR – Chairman of the South Sulawesi Regional Directorate Muhammadiyah, Prof. H. Ambo Asse asked South Sulawesi Acting Governor Bahtiar Baharuddin to hold meetings with various community figures, including religious leaders, traditional leaders, youth leaders and leaders of political organizations in the South Sulawesi.

This request was made during a friendly visit to the Unismuh Makassar Campus on Thursday, September 14, 2023.

Acting Governor (Pj) of South Sulawesi, Bahtiar Baharuddin and his entourage were received in the Chancellor’s Room on the 17th floor of the Unismuh Campus.

Also present were BPH President Prof. Gagaring Pagalung, Vice-Chancellor I, Dr. Abd Rakhim Nanda, Vice-Chancellor II, Prof. Andi Sukri Syamsuri, Vice-Chancellor IV, Dr. Mawardi Pewangi, Dean of FKIP, Erwin Akib, Vice-Chancellor Dean III of the FAI, Elly Oschar. Present from PWM were Dr HM Syaiful Saleh, Prof Arifuddin Ahmad and Dr Dahlan Lamabawa.

During the meeting, Prof. Ambo Asse, who is also Chancellor of Unismuh Makassar, expressed the importance of this common dialogue, especially as the political year approaches.

We hope that this dialogue can provide clarity and overcome potential tensions that may arise in society.

Teacher. Ambo Asse also highlighted the impact of excessive information and hoaxes which often trigger problems in society, especially with today’s advancements in technology and social media.

Professor Ambo stressed the need for government control to overcome this problem.

Apart from that, Prof. Ambo Asse expressed his gratitude for the visit of the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Bahtiar Baharuddin, to the Unismuh campus and hoped that there would be cooperation between the South Sulawesi government , Muhammadiyah and Unismuh in the development of the Tri Dharma of higher education.

Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Dr. Bahtiar Baharuddin also welcomed the proposed dialogue with the personalities of Muhammadiyah and hopes to obtain valuable input for the development progress of South Sulawesi.

Apart from this, Bahtiar Baharuddin also proposed collaboration with Unismuh to develop tissue culture technology for horticultural plants, especially banana plants.

This program was included in the 2024 program, and Unismuh responded positively because it has enough land for the development of horticultural crops, especially in Bissoloro, about 75 ha and in Bollangi, Gowa, 13 ha.

After the meeting, the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi accompanied by Vice Chancellor II, Prof. Andi Sukri Syamsuri, looking at the view of Makassar city and its surroundings from the 18th floor of the Unismuh campus.
