Commerce Minister Zulkifli Hasan said Indonesia’s presence at the MRT meeting was to show Indonesia’s support for the development of the system trade especially in the Asia-Pacific region and establish mutually beneficial business relationships.
“Indonesia supports APEC’s efforts to develop economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, which is beneficial to all APEC economies. We will be present at the APEC MRT meeting to bring a support for the trading system woven by APEC to develop the regional economy,” Commerce Minister Zulhas – his nickname – said in Jakarta on Thursday (25/5/2023).
During the MRT meeting, a number of topics were discussed, namely APEC’s support to the multilateral trading system, intra-regional capacity building, facilitation of trade in goods and services, inter-regional connectivity, digitalisation, sustainability and inclusiveness of trade, innovation in the trade sector.
In addition to the MRT meeting, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan is to hold bilateral meetings with a number of APEC member economies. Topics to be discussed include increasing business relations to implementing business cooperation.
