Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – BPJS Health Senior Director Ali Ghufron Mukti revealed that BPJS Health contribution income will increase in 2022 to IDR 144.04 trillion, compared to last year which was recorded at IDR 143.32 trillion.

Consists of contributions obtained from participants receiving contribution assistance (PBI) amounting to IDR 59.9 trillion and the majority comes from non-PBI contributions amounting to IDR 80.3 trillion. PBI contributions come from APBN IDR 46 trillion and APBD IDR 13.9 trillion.

“Where does the money for IDR 144.04 trillion come from? This represents 2022 of IDR 59.9 trillion PBI from non-poor non-PBI people, about IDR 80.3 trillion, so a large part comes from non-poor people,” Ghufron emphasized in a public lecture. Exhibit at BPJS Health headquarters, Tuesday (7/18/2023).

Regarding the number of participants, he stressed, it has also increased. In 2022, the total number of BPJS Health participants will reach 248.77 million people, while in 2021 there will be 235.71 million. This number in 2022 is equivalent to 90.34% of Indonesia’s total population of 275.36 million.

Meanwhile, for the achievement until July 1, 2023, he said, there was also a significant increase, reaching 258.32 million people. According to him, this number of participants was only obtained in 10 years, ahead of South Korea’s 12 years, or even Germany’s 127 years.

“So it’s different from other countries that took decades to achieve universal health coverage (UHC). Especially with a workforce of around 9,000,” he said.

According to Ghufron, the increase in the number of JKN participants is also accompanied by an increase in the number of health facility partners. In 2022, the BPJS’s collaboration with first-level health establishments (FKTP) will be 23,730 and that of advanced-level reference health establishments (FKRTL) will be 2,963.

The number of collaborations with FKTP increased from the 2021 record of 23,608 and FKTRL of 2,810. According to Ghufron, more and more health institutions are willing to collaborate with BPJS based on BPJS’ ability to pay quickly pay off their bills, so that they no longer have debts to hospitals.

“The average payment of claims does not take too long because it is 12.3 working days and for hospitals it is 14.07 days. Many people do not know that we do not have debts to hospitals. Before there were so many that it affected services, now we don’t have any, a small amount is still being processed for claims but in reality we have no debt,” Ghufron said.

“If anyone feels they can report a complaint, we will address it immediately,” he stressed.

In terms of health insurance costs, in 2022 they also increased to IDR 113.47 trillion compared to last year’s record of IDR 90.33 trillion. Includes promotional preventive service costs of IDR 490 billion, first-level outpatient care of IDR 14.95 trillion, first-level hospital care of IDR 1.08 trillion, advanced outpatient care of IDR 34.57 trillion and advanced hospital care of IDR 62.39 trillion.
