TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Central Statistical Agency or BPS said there was an increase in visits foreign tourist in Batam, Riau Islands, in November 2022, by 3.13% compared to October 2022 which had reached 78,220 visits.
BPS Batam City chief Rahmad Iswanto said that visits by foreign tourists or foreign tourists (foreign tourists) in November 2022 occurred at the entrance of Batam Center Ferry Terminal, Nongsa Pura Port, Harbourbay Ferry Port, Rearpadang Port and Hang Nadim International Airport.
“Compared to November 2021, the number of foreign tourists visiting the city Batam increased by 34,373.08%,” Rahmad said in a statement received in Batam on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
He explained that foreign tourists visiting Batam City in November 2022 were dominated by Singaporeans, totaling 50,977 visits.
Meanwhile, 8,970 foreign tourist visits from Malaysia, 3,058 visits to India, 1,556 visits to China, 1,356 visits to the Philippines, 619 visits to England, 641 visits to Australia, 630 visits to the United States, 529 visits to Japan and 529 visits to German nationals 276 visits.
“Of the 10 countries with the most foreign tourists visiting Batam City, it was recorded that foreign tourists from Singapore, China, Australia, the United States, Japan and Germany experienced an increase in the number visits in November 2022 compared to the previous month,” Rahmad said.
Foreign tourists visiting Batam City from January to November 2022, he continued, recorded 420,918 visits.
He further said that the room occupancy rate (TPK) of star hotels in the Riau Islands province in November 2022 reached an average of 45.67%, down 2.93 percentage points from the previous year. October 2022 TPK which had averaged 48.60%.
“The average length of stay for foreign and Indonesian guests in star hotels in the Riau Archipelago province in November 2022 was 2 days, up 0.03 points from the average length of stay for guests in October 2022,” Rahmad said.
