Badminton News: The Yonex Canada Open 2024 badminton competition, a BWF HSBC World Tour Super 500 tournament with a total prize pool of US$420,000, or approximately Rp6.7 billion, in Calgary, Canada on Sunday evening, July 7, 2024, is the final round of the competition with only one Thai badminton player on the court.
The women’s singles final where Busanan Ongbamrungphan, seeded 3rd in the tournament and ranked 19th in the world, met the representative of Denmark, Line Hojmark Kjerfeldt, seeded 4th in the tournament and ranked 21st in the world from Denmark. In statistics over 4 matches, Busanan won all four matches in total.

Busanan Ongbamrungphan won the World Tour Championship within 2 years of the 2022 India Open, including her own 4th World Tour Championship and became the second Thai badminton player in singles to win this championship after Nat Nichaon Jindapol in 2013, as well as receiving the total prize money of 31,500 US dollars, or approximately Rp 5,044 million, while Line Hojmark Kjerfeldt, who was runner-up, received a prize money of 15,960 US dollars, or approximately Rp 255 million.
