REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — An exciting, interesting and tense match took place when the star-studded Canadian team had to play a death match against defending champions Spain.
The spectators who filled the Indonesia Arena on Sunday (03/09/2023) were satisfied with the performance of the two teams who had their best game.
Canada, which was trailing by 12 points at the start of the fourth quarter, finally managed to turn things around to win the match with a score of 88-85.
The two teams were tied 21-21 at the end of the first quarter. Spain led 48-38 at the end of the second quarter, even trailing 73-61 at the end of the third.
The fourth quarter was close, Canada managed to come back from double digits behind and ultimately took an 88-85 victory.
With this result, Canada qualified for the quarter-finals, while Spain had to forget its dream of defending the title won in 2019 in China.
In this game, the best player was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 30 points, Dillon Brooks added 22 points and RJ Barret 16 points. In the Spanish camp Willy Hernangomez 25, Santi Aldama 20 and Alex Abrines 11 points.
