Qasir Nasir Khan, president of the Markham Islamic Society, told reporters on Monday April 10, 2023 that a man had committed a number of Islamophobic acts outside the mosque, about 30 km (18 miles) north. north of downtown Toronto.

“He threatened to burn down our mosque. He uttered insults about the Prophet (Muhammad),” Khan told a press conference, quoted by AlJazeeraTuesday, April 11, 2023.

“The most disturbing thing is that he tried to run over our congregation with his vehicle.”

He added that in light of recent incidents of Islamophobia in Canada, Muslim worshipers and devotees across the country are beginning to worry.
