Canada’s wildfires are spreading, PM Trudeau: it’s painful and heartbreaking



This was stated by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in his statement on Monday (5/6), saying that this fire season was the worst fire season for his country.

It is for this reason that Trudeau expressed his support for volunteers fighting fires across the country, as well as evacuated residents.



“We stand with all the citizens of this country who have endured this painful and heartbreaking time,” Trudeau said.

So far, according to records from Public Safety Minister Bill Blair, throughout 2023, approximately 2,214 forest fires have occurred in Canada, and approximately 3.3 million hectares have been burned in this country.

“But there are currently 413 wildfires, of which 249 are considered uncontained. There are also 18 active wildfires specifically affecting the country, including six in Alberta, five in Saskatchewan, one in the Northwest Territories, four in Quebec and two in Nova Scotia. Scotia,” Blair added.
