Jakarta (ANTARA News) – Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Peter MacArthur met with President Joko Widodo, among others, to discuss the country's support for Palestine.
Peter MacArthur was seen leaving the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday at around 17:00 WIB and was only accompanied by one of his aides.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi, who accompanied President Jokowi during the meeting with the Canadian ambassador, said the meeting was more of a bilateral discussion.
“It is for this reason that there has been an increase in Canadian support for Palestine. In addition, the support of the UN ROA, with the reduction of American support for the UN ROA, this agency is experiencing difficulties. financial difficulties because it reduced by 300 million US dollars,” he said.
Foreign Minister Retno said Canada pays close attention to a number of issues that also attract Indonesia's attention.
Until now, Indonesia has always provided support and a firm stance on Palestinian issues.
Apart from this, the meeting also discussed Rakhine State and the issues arising there.
“We talked about it and Rakhine State because Canada has a 'special envoy' in Rakhine State,” he said.
Canada has special ambassadors, one of whom deals specifically with funding education and health in Rakhine State.
