Canadian and Indian astronomers pick up signals from a galaxy of nearly 9 billion lights

Kabar6-A team of astronomers from Canada and India have been able to detect signals from a galaxy known as SDSSJ0826+5630, using a giant telescope near Pune in Maharashtra.

Yes, they managed to detect a radio signal, believed to be coming from a galaxy about nine billion light-years from Earth. By launching Cnet, it is specified that radio waves allow astronomers to understand the beginning of the formation of the universe which would be approximately 13.7 billion years old.

According to cosmologist and co-author of the wave detection study, Arnab Chakraborty, radio signals allowed them to travel back in time. “It’s the equivalent of looking back in time 8.8 billion years,” Chakraborty said.

The received radio signal was not sent by extraterrestrials, but came from a star-forming galaxy that was emitted when the universe was only 4.9 billion years old. It was the first such radio signal to be detected over great distances.

Chakraborty added that galaxies emit different types of radio signals. “So far, we have only been able to detect some signals from nearby galaxies, which limits our knowledge of galaxies around Earth,” he said.

He explained that the detected signal wave was an important finding because its frequency was at a certain wavelength known as the “21cm line”, also known as the hydrogen line and is a line of the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation with a frequency of 1420.( ilj/bbs)
