Canadian Army visits Kopassus Headquarters and discusses training and education

Jakarta, IDM – Kopassus Commander General (Danjen) Major General TNI Iwan Setiawan received a courtesy visit from Major General Steve Boivin, Commander Canadian Special Operations Command, at Flamboyan Building, Cijantung Kopassus Headquarters, Jakarta on Thursday (19 /1).

Excerpt from the official press release Penkopass, On Friday (20/1), Iwan said that this visit was aimed at strengthening military diplomacy and seeing the possibility of military cooperation.

“I see that there is a cooperative relationship that can be built, and there is still a lot to develop in various activities to improve the relationship,” Iwan said.

He explained that since 2011, cooperation has been established on several occasions, especially in the field of education, including sending Kopassus officers to Canada.

β€œIn 2011 we sent two officers and finally in 2022 we sent an officer from Kopassus, Lettu Inf Sihol,” Iwan explained.

Besides overseas education, Iwan said, Kopassus also often conducts joint training activities (Latma) with Canada, including several friendly countries such as Singapore, China, Brunei Darussalam, Scotland. (rr)
