F1 News: Fernando Alonso scores brilliant results. Aston Martin drivers lead wet practice at Canadian Grand Prix.
Taking advantage of dry conditions at the start of FP2, Alonso recorded a series of fastest laps to move to the top of the timesheet, 0.463s ahead of Mercedes driver George Russell.
Alonso’s Aston Martin teammate Lance Stroll finished third, ahead of Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Daniel Ricciardo. Sixth place was occupied by Kevin Magnussen, who was quicker than Lewis Hamilton, Yuki Tsunoda, Alex Albon and Sergio Perez.
Late flooding prevented drivers from improving their times and forced the field into the middle lane. Max Verstappen had a poor showing, missing half of FP2 after crashing the ERS session in his Red Bull.
The same with Carlos Sainz, who could only finish 13th.
