Jakarta (ANTARA) – Canadian golfer Adam Hadwin performed well on the first day of the 2022 US Open by leading the rankings after scoring 66 strokes, four under par.
In the match held at the Country Club, Brookline, Massachusetts, Thursday (6/16), local time, Hadwin made six birdies.
At the start of the game, he made a mistake with a bogey at hole 3. But he then paid for it with two birdies at holes 4 and 5.
In fact, he shot under par three more times in a row on holes 7, 8 and 9. While playing hole 12, he made another bogey and paid for it again with a birdie on the hole. 13.
This result puts the 34-year-old one step ahead of five golfers, namely MJ Daffue (South Africa), Joel Dahmen (USA), David Lingmerth (Denmark), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and Callum Tarren (England) who plays in second place.
“66 shots at the US Open and leading in the first round is truly extraordinary,” Hadwin said, as reported on Friday by the tournament's official website.

He also revealed that the results of the first day could not be separated from the preparations made with his caddy, Joe Cruz.
“We did a good job preparing for the golf course and the conditions. Things started to firm up a little bit after the end of the first day and that will concern us the next day,” he said.
Hadwin has been participating in the US Open since the 2011 edition and at that time finished in the T39 position, which was the best position of his professional golfing career.
Last year, when the US Open was played at Torrey Pines Golf Course, San Diego, he was only able to finish in T40 position by scoring 290 or six over par, well behind the winner Jon Rahm with 278 (-6).
