KOMPAS.com – The Canadian men’s basketball team has arrived in Indonesia to take on the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. One of the stars to appear in the country is 2023 NBA All Star member Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will take place in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10, 2023.
As one of the hosts of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, Indonesia will host Group G and Group H matches at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta.

In Group H, one of the strongest teams that will appear in Indonesia is Canada. They will compete with Latvia, Lebanon and France.
Canada is the first team to arrive in Indonesia ahead of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
The team consisting of Jordi Fernandez arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, on Monday (21/8/2023) in the morning WIB.
Currently, the Canadian list includes 14 names. However, this is not yet the definitive team.
Head coach Jordi Fernández will select 12 main players who will be determined before the technical meeting on August 24.
In the current list of Canadian players, there are well-known names such as RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The three players are world basketball stars who play in the NBA. RJ Barrett of the New York Knicks, Dillon Brooks of the Memphis Grizzlies and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander currently play for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The last name becomes that of the player whose name was most recently heard.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was selected to be part of the NBA All Star 2023 held in Utah last February.
Around this time, Gilgeous Alexander was selected as a reserve player for the Western Conference.
Previously, the 25-year-old guard was also selected to the 2019 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
Besides Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the two names above, Canada still has other NBA stars, namely Dwight Powell (Dallas Mavericks) and Kelly Olynyk (Detroit Pistons).
