F1 News: Red Bull’s third driver Daniel Ricciardo will take a tire test after the British Grand Prix which could be his chance to impress the team’s top brass.
Daniel Ricciardo will return to drive a Red Bull Racing car in a tire test after the British Grand Prix. This is a rare opportunity for him as it can be a place to prove himself.
As we know, The Honey Badger wants to fulfill his dream of returning to regular F1 appearances.
“We will have Ricciardo in the car for three days after the Silverstone tire test and then you can assess where Ricciardo really is,” Die Roten Bullen adviser Helmut Marko was quoted by ORF as saying.
It is also believed that the test Ricciardo took part in will show whether he deserves to become Max Verstappen’s new team-mate. The current Tandem Verstappen, Sergio Perez, has seen a drop in performance over the past three series.
After winning the first two rounds of F1 2023, Perez finished in Q16, P4 and P6 at the Monaco GP, Spanish GP and Canadian GP. Because he is paired with Verstappen, who is a two-time world champion, the 33-year-old must also have high results
“The original target was two, three years (to sign Perez), which would be longer than he had anticipated, and just opening up the succession options,” Marko said.
The boss’s words may be good news for Daniel Ricciardo, who is trying to return to aerospace competition as soon as possible. He was sacked by McLaren last season and was reluctant to move to Haas for a third driving role at Red Bull, a move he hopes will see him return to the top flight.
