Jakarta, tvOnenews.com – Lawyer for a Canadian citizen with the initials SG alias Stéphane Gagnon (50), Lawyers Dalimunthe and Tampubolon (DNT), protested against the arrest of his client. SG, who was arrested in Canggu, Bali on May 19, 2023, is believed to be a fugitive from Interpol.
DNT Lawyers representative Pahrur Dalimunthe stated that SG is a Canadian citizen who has lived and settled in Bali since 2020. SG has a Limited Resident Permit Card (KITAS) and has opened a business in Bali with dozens of workers.
“In February 2023, SG was visited by an individual carrying a piece of paper printed with the words Interpol Red Notice, during the meeting the person stated that SG was included in the Interpol Red Notice, and that he would be discontinued within 4-6 weeks,” Pahrur said in his Sunday, June 4, 2023 statement.
“At the meeting, the person said that he could be helped not to be arrested, provided that he handed over the money,” he continued.
SG took a good look at his identity in the red notice, it turned out that it was not SG because his identity was different from the identity listed in the red notice. Because he felt his identity was different from that of the Red Notice, SG ignored the person’s request.
“That some time later these elements came back, this time several people. During the meeting, these elements said that an arrest would be made,” Pahrur explained.
Feeling disturbed and not wanting to be disturbed anymore, at the request of these elements, SG sent a sum of IDR 750 million, IDR 150 million and IDR 100 million. Everything is sent by bank transfer.
