Taiwan conquers India
The competition in Group C is expected to be the toughest competition with three strong teams, namely Taiwan, India and Malaysia. The only “weak” team in this group is Australia.
However, in one of the three matches on the first day of the championship, India lost 1-4 against Taiwan in four matches which stretched over three matches. India’s only victory came in women’s doubles, namely Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand Pullela. Taiwan’s four wins went to Chou Tien Chen, Tai Tzu Ying, Lee Yang/Wang Chi Lin and Yang Po Hsuan/Hu Ling Fang.
“We were able to get out of the pressure in the second game. It was a very close fight,” Yang told the official championship website. Yang/Hu defeated Prateek K Sai/Crasto 18-21, 26-24, 21-6 after blocking three match points in the second game.
The three victories were also won by Tai and Lee/Wang for Taiwan and Jolly/Pullela for India. “In fact, we anticipate tough competition in this group. However, today is not our good day.
