Expanding migrant worker placement, BP2MI collaborates with New Brunswick Canada

Jakarta – The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) conducted a working visit to Canada to establish various collaborations with the local government.

BP2MI Principal Secretary Rinardi led the visit which took place on July 11, 2024. During the visit, BP2MI paid a courtesy call with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) to Canada, Daniel Tumpal Simanjuntak, at Wisma Indonesia in Ottawa, Canada.

Rinardi said that BP2MI is committed to collaborating with the provincial government of New Brunswick, Canada. The concept of cooperation is in the health sector with the G to G scheme. According to him, it is possible that cooperation will also be done with other provinces and territories.

“BP2MI’s agenda for this working visit is to explore cooperation with the provincial government of New Brunswick, Canada. We will maintain BP2MI’s commitment to enhance cooperation and actively build collaboration with all parties,” Rinardi said in his statement on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

According to Rinardi, BP2MI also wants to expand cooperation by placing Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in other sectors, with the Canadian government, something that has never been explored before.

“We are also not focused and we have locked ourselves in some cooperation projects. That is why during this visit, BP2MI is working, trying to build a dialogue in order to seek employment opportunities in other sectors. Everything we do is for the good of Indonesian migrant workers, for the good of our beloved Indonesia, Rinardi said.

The presence of the BP2MI team received a positive response from Indonesian Ambassador to Canada Daniel Tumpal Simanjuntak and his team. “We welcome the presence of the BP2MI group for the working visit. In principle, we give back support and transmit information, or whatever is needed in Canada,” Daniel said.

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Ottawa also supports the realization of this collaboration and encourages the realization of similar collaboration with other provinces and territories of Canada.

The BP2MI team accompanying the Secretary of State included Deputy for Placement and Protection for the Americas and the Pacific, Agustinus Gatot Hermawan. Then, introduction to the work of young expert Sheny Fithriani, analyst for the placement and protection of Indonesian migrant workers Septian Wijayanti, and compiler of news and public opinion, Risky Maulyan Anggit.
