F1 News: George Russell recorded brilliant results. He claimed Mercedes’ first pole position of the 2024 F1 season by winning a thrilling qualifying session at the Canadian Grand Prix.
In an incredible battle, Russell and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen set the same lap times, but it was the Mercedes driver who took the lead after completing his lap first.
McLaren’s Lando Norris finished third and was just 0.021 seconds off pole, with teammate Oscar Piastri joining him on the second row in fourth. RB’s Daniel Ricciardo was the star en route to fifth, while Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso pipped Lewis Hamilton to sixth.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz recorded poor results. The Ferrari duo was surprisingly eliminated in the second part of qualifying.
