Facebook is testing a community feature called “Neighborhoods” for select users in Canada and the United States.
Facebook, according to the page CNand quoted Between, As of Friday (7/5/2021), Neighbourhoods was tested in four cities across Canada and the United States, including Charlotte, North Carolina; San Diego, California; Newark, New Jersey; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Neighbourhoods helps users find people around them with similar interests, find local shops and find help.
This feature is similar to Facebook Groups, but neighborhoods will provide information in one place.
“We’re not just showing people who lives nearby, but how they’re connected and what they care about and care about,” said Reid Patton, Facebook Neighborhoods product manager.
To use Neighborhoods, users must be at least 18 years old and have location enabled.
According to Patton, users in Canada are using the feature to find lost pets, search for cake ingredients and find artisans.
In order to maintain safety and inclusiveness in the group, each environment will have a certain number of moderators.
Facebook does not allow new accounts and accounts that repeatedly violate the rules to use Neighborhoods. (ant/cus/ipg)
