If you are already feeling the negative impact, according to Kiai Zubaidi, then those nations will strongly oppose LGBT people as well. “To be honest, even in a liberal country, they don’t want their family members to be LGBT, let alone their children,” Kiai Zubaidi said.

He said that Indonesia as a country that rejects LGBT could also receive the impact if these nations continue to promote LGBT. “It seems that we, in a country where the majority rejects LGBT, are also affected,” said Kiai Zubaidi.

He added that LGBT people are clearly against Islamic teachings. Nevertheless, according to him, people who have been influenced by LGBT should not be isolated, but should be encouraged to return to the right path.

“In perspective Islam it is very clear that the behavior of LGBT people is contrary to Islam. However, if there are LGBT people, we don’t even have to isolate them, but rather we have to encourage them to come back to the right path,” he explained.
