VISION.NEWS | SUNNYVALE – Today, Facemoji Keyboard released its 2023 Emoji Status Report to celebrate World Emoji Day on July 17th. This report highlights a dramatic shift from the number 1 most used emoji and includes the Argentine flag among the top 20 for the first time.
Key findings on emoji use include:
High Volume Crying Face has replaced the long-time favorite Face Emoji with Tears of Joy as the number 1 most used emoji in the world.
Lionel Messi’s victory at the 2022 World Cup finally went around the world and propelled the Argentinian flag into the top 20.
Countries in Europe like Spain, France, Britain, Italy and Russia all have party faces in their top 10. It shows the return of party mood after the pandemic.
Face with Tears of Joy, Face with Crying at High Volume, Red Heart, Face Laughing Loudly and Face with Begging all remained in the top 5 this year, proving that even though we have all kinds of emoji, we always come back to our favourites.
Whether crying from laughter or crying for real, the first three emoji all feature tears.
Canada is the only country to have just one item of clothing in its top 10 – with the pants emoji ranking second.
Skeletons ranked in the top 10 in Canada, the UK and the US – all English speaking countries.
