F1 News: Fernando Alonso believes he will need to be “sharp” on Saturday at the Canadian F1GP after mixed conditions led to limited racing in the field during Friday’s practice session (7/6).
With rain delaying the entry of cars onto the track during FP1, the weather again caused problems during FP2, with most drivers setting their best times despite the track being drier at the start before the rain come back later in the session.
Alonso moved to the top of the timesheet thanks to his previous unbeaten time of 1 minute 15.810 seconds, but the two-time world champion admitted it was a tough day to learn from.
“Honestly, there’s not much to say. A tough Friday for everyone – not many laps in FP1, not many laps in FP2. “Not the right lap in the dry nor the right lap in the wet, we are in the middle of nowhere,” Fernando Alonso said after jumping out of the car.
“But it could be like this [di] qualifying and racing, so the information is always very useful. We need to analyze some data and be very precise tomorrow. I think the right decision can save you five seconds, the wrong decision [dan] You are stunned.
When asked if there was any information obtained during races on the newly resurfaced asphalt of the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit, Alonso replied: “[Sepertinya] well, obviously not very clean after the storm either. The road is quite dusty, but at the same time the grip is quite good, so I think the new asphalt is good.”
