F1 News: Fernando Alonso believes he will need to be ‘precise’ at F1GP Canada on Saturday after mixed conditions led to limited running on the field in Friday’s practice session (7/6).
With rain delaying the cars getting out onto the track in FP1, the weather caused problems again in FP2, with most drivers setting their fastest times as the track was drier early on before the rain returned later in the session.
Alonso moved to the top of the timesheets thanks to his previous unbeaten time of 1 minute 15.810 seconds, but the double world champion admitted it was a difficult day to learn from.
“Honestly, there’s not much to say. A tough Friday for everyone – not many laps in FP1, not many laps in FP2. “Not the right lap in the dry, not the right lap in the wet, we’re in the middle of nowhere,” said Fernando Alonso after jumping out of the car.
“But it could be like this [di] qualifying and races, so the information is always very useful. We need to analyse a bit of data and be very precise tomorrow. I think the right decision can save you five seconds, the wrong decision [dan] You are knocked out.
Asked if there was any information obtained from races on the newly resurfaced asphalt of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, Alonso replied: “[Sepertinya] Well, obviously not very clean after the storm either.
