Ferrari changes strategy before participating in the Austrian GP

F1 News: Ferrari has revealed plans to change its strategy at the upcoming Austrian GP and has also introduced a new concept car to reduce porpoising.

Ferrari recently revealed plans to implement a different strategy at the upcoming Austrian GP. Even though the engineers had found the right development path, they wanted to find the max.

During the Canadian GP weekend, Frédéric Vasseur as Principal of the Prancing Horse spoke about the technical innovations the team would bring in the upcoming series. The good results from the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit are a good sign that the SF-23 land jet will no longer have problems with tire degradation.

For next week’s Austrian GP, Ferrari will introduce a new running gear designed to reduce porpoises. The Maranello manufacturer said it wants to anticipate some engine strategy in the hybrid section, leading to Red Bull Racing’s proprietary method.

Their decision was seen as quite bold as the Red Bull Ring was hosting the 2023 F1 Sprint race. So as there was only one free practice session the team needed to ensure the car was capable of work positively in a short time.

Also, Charles Leclerc’s win at the Austrian GP last year was one of the things that boosted Ferrari’s motivation. The main podium is a bit impossible to reach, so they are at least close to Aston Martin and Mercedes.

Currently, the Italian manufacturer sits fourth in the 2023 F1 Constructors’ Rankings with a total of 122 points, 32 points behind Aston Martin.
