This is a historic victory for Canada. They earned their first win against France after losing their previous three matches at the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

France controlled the match from the start. Leading 18-14 in the first quarter, they continued to lead before Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored four points to help Canada pull within 32-31. Canada then maintained its momentum for the rest of the game, leading 43-40 at halftime.
Dillon Brooks and his friends were increasingly superior in the third quarter. They reeled off six straight points to take a 54-42 lead, their biggest yet.
Three-pointers from Gilgeous-Alexander and Kelly Olynk brought Canada within 62-44, with Brooks also contributing three points. Canada continued to maintain its superiority and led 68-48 at the end of the third quarter.
France tried to catch up in the last 10 minutes. However, the gap was too big to prevent them from advancing in the first match of the FIBA World Cup 2023.
