Williams boss James Vowles went on to explain the issues Albon was suffering from. He revealed that the problem with the new tire sensor was detected just before the race and could not be fixed quickly.
“We removed the bodywork from Alex’s car shortly before the race. There was an issue, not one that would affect reliability, but one that definitely affected our performance and data,” he said. said in a video posted by Williams.
“We have sensors on the rear tire that tell us what’s going on. They are infrared sensors, so contactless, but basically they give us the temperature of the tires on the rear axle.”

The results in Montreal itself led Williams to move up from the bottom of the constructors’ standings and out of AlphaTauri. Vowles went on to hail Alex Albon as “the performance of a champion”.
“At the start of the race, the safety car obviously changed things significantly. It made it very difficult for some competitors, but also created opportunities for us,” he said.
