Formerly Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Retno Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Russia Sergei Lavrov and Chinese senior diplomat Wang Yi met at a round table during a trilateral meeting, Wednesday (07/12/2023).
The 2023 PMC will start today with 11 meetings with 10 countries on the third day of the 2023 ASEAN Ministerial Meeting/Post-Ministerial Conference (AMM/PMC) series of events.
The 11 meetings included India, New Zealand, Russia, Australia, China, Japan, Korea, European Union, Asean Plus Three, Britain and Canada.
“While on Thursday we started PMC, both plus 1 and plus 3, it will be Thursday,” he told reporters at the Media Center, Wisma 46 BNI, Jakarta.
According to the schedule, the meeting will begin with the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with India and New Zealand at 08:30 WIB, and continue with Russia and Australia at 09:45 WIB.
Then continue with China at 11:00 a.m. WIB, then Japan at 1:00 p.m. WIB, Korea and the European Union at 2:15 p.m. WIB, the 24th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and the Three at 3:30 p.m. WIB, and the Kingdom UK and Canada at 5:15 p.m. WIB.
As is known, the 56th ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference/Ministerial Meeting (AMM-PMC) 2023 series brought together 29 countries, as well as the ASEAN Secretariat and the European Union.
In total, ASEAN foreign ministers and their partners from 29 countries will hold 18 meetings at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta, over 4 days from July 11 to 14, 2023.
In addition, there will also be bilateral and trilateral meetings. However, this figure remains dynamic, adjusted to the terrain and the allocation of time.
Meeting of three senior officials
For your information, Indonesian Foreign Minister (Menlu) Retno Marsudi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Chinese senior diplomat Wang Yi met in a round table at a trilateral meeting on Wednesday (12 /7/2023).
Lavrov and Wang Yi spoke with Retno face to face at a table which started around 4:00 p.m. WIB, at Pancasila Building, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), Jakarta.
Based on Bisnis’ surveillance on the spot, the Indonesian foreign minister was seen sitting between Lavrov and Wang Yi. Lavrov sat to the left and Wang Yi to the right of Foreign Minister Retno.
Previously, the Russian Embassy in Indonesia also said that Lavrov would attend the Russia-ASEAN meeting, the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Regional Forum in Jakarta.
“Our efforts will be aimed at promoting Russia’s interests in the Asia-Pacific region,” the Russian Embassy said.
Meanwhile, Wang Yi was there to replace Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang who canceled his participation in the Jakarta trilateral meeting.
The Politico news site previously reported that it was speculated that Qin’s health issues were the reason he was absent from the meeting in Jakarta.
As is known, Russia and China are also partners in the series of the 56th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting/Post-Ministerial Conference (AMM-PMC) 2023, which was attended by 29 countries, as well as the ASEAN Secretariat. ASEAN and the European Union.
