F1 News: Scuderia Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur has admitted he was quite pleased with the race results of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. at the last Canadian F1 Grand Prix. Both managed to show very good performances and finished together in the top five positions.
With both starting positions not being ideal, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. rode a pretty neat race. The tire-use strategy put in place by the Prancing Horses also worked effectively for Leclerc and Sainz to animate the top five in the competition. Even if he couldn’t get on the podium, this result was enough to make Fred Vasseur smile.
“We got a good result from a difficult starting position. Our pace during the race was very strong. Both riders rode very well. We also did the right thing in terms of strategy. If a safety car enters the track, you have to react according to the situation. For us, it was the only opportunity to do something different from the competition,” said Vasseur.
“Before the safety car came in both drivers said they could go faster. So we wanted to see if it was true that they could do it on the restart. So we got a little bit played and looked back a bit, it was the right decision,” he repeated.
For the upcoming series, Vasseur hopes Ferrari can be more competitive and consistent again. It is Vasseur’s hope that his driver will disrupt the dominance of Red Bull, Mercedes and Aston Martin.
