JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo received a visit from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (05/09/2023).
PM Justin arrived at the Palace around 5:35 p.m. WIB. President Jokowi immediately welcomed his arrival with a state ceremony in the courtyard of Merdeka Palace. The Canadian national anthem and the song “Indonesia Raya” were also sung during this procession.

The President and Prime Minister Justin then went to the Credentials Hall at Merdeka Palace and immediately took a photo together for the media team to capture.
After that, Prime Minister Justin presented a gift to President Jokowi. The gift was a basketball jersey with red and white trim.
On the jersey, the name “Jokowi” is written with the number 7 on the back.
Then, President Jokowi turned around to show Prime Minister Justin a painting of a cart pulled by buffaloes.

The two looked at the board while chatting. After giving each other gifts, President Jokowi invited Prime Minister Justin to fill out the guestbook.
Then, they both headed to the oval room at the back of Merdeka Palace to introduce each country’s delegations to each other.
Afterwards, President Jokowi and Prime Minister Justin had a conversation for about 20 minutes on the back terrace of Merdeka Palace. The President and Prime Minister Justin then held a bilateral meeting in the Oval Office.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to Indonesia this time was aimed at participating in the 43rd ASEAN Summit (Summit) in Jakarta which will be held from September 5 to 7, 2023.
