Breast prostheses are imitation human breasts, made of silicone that is harmless to the skin and easy to remove. Usually it is done for cancer patients after breast removal surgery.

However, the school defended the controversial appearance of the teacher who teaches secondary school (SMA) in Oakville, Ontario.

In a video recording that has gone viral, reports the Mirror, it appears the teacher was using a chainsaw in class, wearing tight black shorts and a striped top. Before the transition, the teacher was known to the school as a man, but now she is a woman.

Margo Shuttleworth, of the Toronto District School Board, said her staff were considering ‘developing a safety plan’ to ensure the teacher’s safety as her appearance sparked an outcry.

The Halton School District Board confirmed the person receiving “meaningful attention online” was an Oakville High School teacher, but declined to identify who it was. They said the wrong person was named in reports circulating online.

“Kids here definitely don’t think this is normal… but in reality we can’t say anything,” one student tweeted.

Labor lawyer Sunira Chaudhry disagreed with the school’s defense and said endorsing unprofessional dress “created a wedge” in women’s rights.

“It felt sexist to me, because of how over-the-top, nipple-protruding breasts were,” Chaudhry said. “I think a lot of young girls at school don’t just feel uncomfortable, they feel ridiculed.”

Meanwhile, parents and others plan to confront the district at a board meeting and demand action on the appearance of teachers they deem inappropriate. (ilj/bbs)
