Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adds 27 new sites to the prestigious heritage list.

To be added to the list, the selected natural or cultural sites must have outstanding universal value and meet at least one of the ten other selection criteria. It must be a “masterpiece of human creative genius” or possess “an area of ​​exceptional natural beauty and aesthetic significance.”

The move comes as UNESCO announces 27 new World Heritage site designations.

Among them are various areas of cultural significance, including sacred temples in Cambodia, ancient Chinese tea forests, and cities in Europe.

Recently, the committee added several sites in Ukraine to its endangered species list due to the ongoing Russian invasion.

The St. Sophia Cathedrals in kyiv and Lviv were also added to the list.

“Faced with the risk of direct attack, these sites were also vulnerable to the shock waves caused by the bombing of the two cities. »
