As quoted by Anadolu Agency, Lavrov said that the ICC’s involvement in conflicts has never helped solve problems, but rather increased them.
“Today, this structure has taken new scandalous decisions, including unilaterally expanding the scope of jurisdiction. Violating international law, ignoring the immunity of state officials,” he said.
He also added that previous similar actions had caused an acute crisis in the ICC’s relations with African countries.
The head of Russian diplomacy claims that the “so-called Ukrainian documents” were openly financed by Great Britain, the Netherlands, Canada, Romania and Japan. “This is a good example of ‘independent’ justice under Western ‘government’,” Lavrov said.
On March 17, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Putin and the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights for “deportation” of Ukrainian children.
