IKN Progress is 29%, this is a line of projects under construction

Bisnis.comJAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would be back to review the construction project of the national capital (IKN) Archipelago. This is done to ensure that the development of the IKN is proceeding in accordance with the target.

The Chairman of the IKN Infrastructure Development Implementation Working Group, Danis H Sumadilaga, has confirmed President Jokowi’s planned visit to IKN Nusantara.

“That’s right [akan meninjau bulan depan] I don’t know the exact date,” Danis recently told Bisnis.

Meanwhile, Danis said that as of May 2023, IKN’s development progress has reached 29%. This achievement has increased compared to April 2023 which reached only 27%.

Meanwhile, ongoing projects through May 2023 are still in the process of completing Sepaku Dam and Sepaku Intake.

In addition, other works relate to the completion of the construction of the State Palace, the Presidential Office and the Office of the Ministry of Coordination and Road Infrastructure.

Danis said that apart from the projects that have been contracted since last year, his party has launched several new contracts for the Nusantara IKN infrastructure project.

“Progress [pembangunan IKN] around 29%,” he explained.

The government is also aggressively recruiting investors for IKN. Jokowi has actively lobbied a number of countries to provide support.

One of the things President Jokowi has been doing is collecting investment pledges from major countries when he was a guest of non-members at the G7 summit in Japan this week.

During his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, Jokowi discussed the construction of IKN and pushed for the acceleration of the realization of Japan’s $500 million pledge for low-carbon technologies .

Additionally, Jokowi held a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. During the meeting, Jokowi again discussed the commitment to invest in the development of the IKN of the national archipelago.

Jokowi’s quest for investors for IKN Nusantara also continued during his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Jokowi requested an investment regulation from Canadian pension funds that focused on the development of the IKN of the national archipelago.

On another occasion, bilateral meetings were also held with South Korea. To South Korean President Yoon Suk Seol, Jokowi asked that the construction of Sepaku Semoi water treatment at IKN, which is supported by South Korea, can proceed well and be completed on schedule.

Meanwhile, to encourage the acceleration of the realization of investments in the IKN, President Jokowi has appointed the Minister in charge of the coordination of maritime affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, as the chairman of the task force on the acceleration of IKN investments.

Luhut said the land issue is the most important part and needs to be resolved immediately to give certainty to potential investors in IKN.

“In order for everything to give investors certainty to invest, including the issue of land prices which must be determined with the right mechanism through an appraisal,” Luhut said in a written statement on Friday (19 /5/2023).
