Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi were stopped in the last 16 rounds of the 2023 Indonesia Open badminton tournament. The co-hosts were stopped by Chinese women’s doubles, Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan.
In the match held at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta on Thursday (15/6), Ana/Tiwi, nickname of Febriana/Pratiwi, lost 11-21, 12-21 against Chen/Jia.
In this match, the pair ranked 13th in the world admitted to losing in quality to the silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. It can be seen that the appearance of the gold medalist at the 2023 Sea Games did not not been able to keep up with Chen / Jia’s game.
It is not surprising that in this match Ana / Tiwi had to admit the superiority of the world number one pair in 39 minutes.
“Our performance in this match was not perfect as we often took our shots for our opponents to play to put pressure on us,” Ana said.
Even though they lost, Ana/Tiwi learned a valuable lesson against one of the best women’s doubles in the world. Going forward, the two will undergo another evaluation to be ready to face the best women’s doubles in the world.
“The lesson I can learn from fighting them is not to take half hits because they attack from that condition,” Ana added.
Along the same lines, Tiwi said that in future games they need to be more consistent against star players.
“We are not consistent, we accept that the opponent’s shots are of very good quality so they play more comfortably,” said Tiwi.
The Chinese couple Chen/Jia also expressed their appreciation for Ana/Tiwi’s performance. In this fight, the 2021 and 2022 world champions admitted to having prepared against Ana / Tiwi by pressing.
In addition to making technical preparations, both also made non-technical preparations so as not to be affected by the roar of Istora Senayan who supported Ana/Tiwi.
“We prepared before fighting them, so we are ready for anything, especially the roar of the existing fans,” Jia concluded.
With this result, the women’s doubles host sector leaves only Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Allessya Rose.
In the second round, Apriyani/Fadia, who won the gold medal of the 2021 SEA Games, will face Canadian representatives, Catherine Choi/Josephine Wu. As for Meilysa/Rachel, they will face another Chinese women’s doubles, Zhang Shu Xian/ Zheng Yu.
