Ramallah – The 13th edition of the Palestine International Book Fair was launched with the theme “Palestine from the Nakba to the State”, involving 390 publishers from the Arab and non-Arab world.
Abdul Salam Al-Atari, chairman of the exhibition committee, welcomed the large Arab participation in this exhibition due to its consideration and value which proves its presence on the exhibition map of the Association of Arab Publishers.
An exhibition of more than 61,000 book titles took place on the premises of the National Library in the town of Sarda, north of Ramalla, in the central West Bank, from September 12 to 17. Quds Press report.
Al-Atari said the exhibition took place on an area of 5,600 square meters, with various exhibition spaces and several accompanying programs, such as meetings with writers and poets, lectures and cultural seminars.
“We also provide a children’s room, which contains more than 70 fun and educational activities,” he said.
“The book fair was held in the midst of fierce attacks launched by the occupation government and in the face of the firmness of the people and their insistence on asserting their rights, and this is underlined by the message of this book fair. book,” he continued.
He stressed that the exhibition “brings together a mosaic of Palestinian cultural identity and the participation of various components and the entire region, from the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, the occupied interior, the Galilee and the Diaspora. This exhibition conveys several cultural and political messages.
A total of 390 Arab and local publishers come from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.
Several publishers from outside Arab countries also participated, including from Turkey, England, Canada and Italy. (T/RS2/P1)
