Beritabali/ist/Canada Interpol fugitive turns out to have been living in Bali for 3 years, using an investor visa.
The Interpol fugitive from Canada named Stéphane Gagnon (50) is still in custody. This foreigner is known to have entered Bali using an investor visa and already has a Limited Residence Permit Card (KITAS).
Kanit l Subdit IV Ditkrimum Bali Police Kompol Ni Wayan Sriani said Stephane entered Bali in 2020.
“He’s a tourist, he’s been in Bali for three years. He doesn’t work in Bali and he lives in Bali. He has Kitas as an investor,” Sriani said during a press conference at the Special Service Room ( RPK) from Bali Police, Monday (5/22).
He said Stephane had committed frauds and counterfeits in his country before 2020. The cases and losses were not explained in the red notice.
“So the type of crime that was committed in his country in Canada was fraud and forgery. The loss was not showing up on a red notice. If it happened before 2020,” he added .
During his stay on the Island of the Gods, Stephane did no business despite having an investor visa. He entered Indonesia or Bali from Vietnam.
“He doesn’t work in Bali. He flies from Vietnam here and (becomes a fugitive) from 2022,” he said.
Currently, Stephane is being held at the Bali Police Detention Center awaiting handover to Interpol and Canadian police.
