This training event aims to increase the knowledge and skills of participants in carrying out their MC role. Participants in this event included student protocol MCs as well as ITB employee protocol MCs.
Today’s event is divided into 2 sessions. During the first session, the resource person will share their knowledge on the basics of the MC profession, vocal techniques, script preparation, public speaking for MCs, as well as tips that can be applied as an MC, both at formal academic events and semi-formal events. During the second session, participants will carry out a simulation to put the material learned into practice.
Head of the ITB Communications and Public Relations Office, Dr. Naomi Haswanto, S.Sn., M.Sn., delivered a speech at the start of this training. “Through this training, we hope that students can acquire sufficient knowledge and skills to be successful in carrying out their role as MCs,” he said.
Dr. Naomi highlighted that the role of the Protocol team, especially those who act as MCs in various ITB activities, is very crucial.
Present as training resource person, namely Hari Muliyana, SIKOm, CT. He graduated from the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University, Bandung in 2010-2013. In 2013-2015, he continued his studies at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Pasundan University, Bandung. He studied science public speaking This is done through non-formal studies such as at TalkInc Jakarta, British Institute Bandung, excellent public speaking training at TalkInc Jakarta and certification. training for trainers of the ESQ and the BNSP.
Kang Hari is the founder of Panggung Talk and has many experiences as an MC overseas, including Turkey, Singapore, Hong Kong and Canada. He is also active as a speaker providing training materials public speaking and MC in more than 25 institutions since 2018.
In his presentation, the man known as Kang Hari highlighted the MC’s role as time manager, event organizer and mood setter. An MC must also pay attention to the different languages, situations, durations and improvisations appropriate to the type of event being organized, whether formal, semi-formal and informal.
Intonation and choosing the right diction are very important things that should always be trained as an MC. Additionally, articulation, emphasis and smiling voice also support the things the MC must have to maximize its performance.
Participants enthusiastically took part in the training provided by Kang Hari, as evidenced by their enthusiasm in answering the questions asked. Kang Hari also provided direct examples when presenting the materials, so that participants could better understand the materials provided.

After the simulation was completed, the event concluded with a question and answer session and the Head of ITB Protocol Division, Dede Koswara, A.Md., ST, addressed the resource person.
