NBA Basketball News: Jordi Fernandez has confirmed that he will still be the coach of the Canadian national team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. His decision to become the new head coach of the Brooklyn Nets does not change his commitment to the Canadian national team.
As we know, Jordi Fernandez has just been selected as the new coach of the Brooklyn Nets. He was chosen to replace Jacque Vaughn who parted ways with the Nets some time ago. Even though he accepted a new position as the new coach of the Nets, Jordi has not given up his position as coach of the Canadian national team. He will still defend Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“We have worked closely with Jordi and the Nets throughout this process and can confirm that Jordi will remain our coach this summer at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as we look to build on the success we achieved last summer,” said Canadian national team manager Rowan Barrett.
Jordi’s progress with the Canadian national team is indeed quite good. At the FIBA World Cup 2023 alone, Jordi managed to lead Canada to a bronze medal. Canada showed itself so strong before ultimately having to fall in the semi-finals (and then prevail in the third-place game against the United States). Now, with the more prestigious Olympic tournament in Paris, Jordi’s presence is of course really needed again. Jordi’s system of play fits perfectly with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his friends.
