HS Prannoy, who in the 2017 Indonesia Open Super Series Premier tournament defeated Rio 2016 Olympic silver and gold medalists Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long, appeared to run out of energy in the deciding game, so Jeon was able to continue and win the 61-minute match.
Meanwhile, in the women’s singles sector, a surprise occurred after American top seed Zhang Beiwen squandered a 6-point lead in the second game and eventually had to pick up a three-game defeat with 21-16, 22-24 and 11-21 against the young Japanese player, Saena Kawakami.
