Lando Norris’ racing values in Canada will be tight

F1 News: After a wasted 2023 in Canada, McLaren wants to attack in Montreal this year. However, team boss Andrea Stella and driver Lando Norris agree: the track is difficult, the competition is tight.

When the McLaren team went to Canada this year, the signs were completely different from last year: McLaren fought for the podium, finishing twice 2nd in the Imola-Monaco doubleheader. Nevertheless, the teams are cautious in their outlook for Montreal this weekend.

Last year, McLaren didn’t even finish in the points. Oscar Piastri finished 11th, Lando Norris 13th. The McLaren’s performance breakthrough came a little later at the Austrian race in 2023. This year, McLaren started strongly and regularly fights for the podium. Lando Norris is looking forward to the race weekend, but – as he has done several times this season – is cautious in his prediction.

Young British driver: “I enjoyed racing in Montreal. It’s a good track with some tricky sections that make it even more interesting. Our car has worked well on different circuits, but we know we’ll have a lot of work to do in Canada. Our competition will probably be tough here.”

Additional difficulties can be caused by the weather, which is otherwise changeable. However, before the trip to Canada, there was also some free time at McLaren.

“It’s nice to have a week off after the double-header at Imola and Monaco. We came home with two podiums and lots of points for the team. I had a productive session with my engineers at the McLaren Technology Centre,” he added.

After Canada, Formula 1 drivers will benefit from an additional week of rest before the start of the summer phase with the Barcelona-Spielberg-Silverstone triple.
