Jakarta (ANTARA) – Women’s doubles pair Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto withdrew from the 2022 Indonesia Masters ahead of the match against Japanese pair Rui Hirokami/Yuna Kato.
The bitter decision was made due to Rebekah’s health condition which prevented her from taking part in the match which was originally scheduled to take place at Platinum Arena in Malang on Friday.
“Rebekah has been sick since last night. Her body is hot and cold. Today she is not healthy,” Prasetyo Restu Basuki, the coach accompanying her to Malang, said in a written statement on Friday. from PBSI.
Eventually, says Prasetyo, it was decided that Lanny/Ribka would step down.
Together with the decision to withdraw from last week’s Malang Indonesia International Challenge, it gave the Japanese pair a “surprise” win.
Another women’s doubles, Nita Violina Marwah/Tryola Nadia, also had to retire after losing to South Korean pair Kim Min Ji/Seung Yeon Seong 21-16, 19-21, 13-21 .
In this match, Nita again experienced an ankle complaint, so the semi-finalist of the Indonesia International Challenge 2022 did not perform optimally.
“I still had a little swelling in my ankle. I will first do treatment to fix this injury. Until now, I want to recover first before I fall in the next tournament,” said Nita.
“The opponent played very well in this game, we made a lot of mistakes in the second and third games so the opponent could get easy points from our mistakes,” said Tryola.
However, Indonesia still leaves Jesita Putri Miantoro/Febi Setianingrum as the only women’s doubles representatives who have successfully qualified for the semi-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2022 tournament.
Jesita/Febi qualified for the semi-finals after defeating their compatriots Ridya Aulia Fatasya/Kelly Larissa 21-16, 21-10.
