Solopos.com, JAKARTA — The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) opens its voice regarding the condition of Indonesian citizens (WNI) who are in Canada after the incident Forest fires.
Judha Nugraha, director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said wildfires had hit several regions in Canada, including Yellowknife and Kelowna.
He said Canadian authorities declared a state of emergency following the wildfires and the Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver continues to monitor the disaster to this day.
“According to data from the Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver, there are currently 28 Indonesian citizens living in Kelowna, the majority of whom are students. “Meanwhile, in Yellowknife, there are no Indonesian citizens living in the area,” he said.

Additionally, he explained that currently no Indonesian citizens have been reported as victims of forest fires in Canada.

“Evacuation destinations include Wisma Indonesia in Vancouver, the City of Kelowna evacuation center and several towns around Kelowna,” he added.
Then, he pointed out that the Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa, the Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver and the Indonesian Consulate General in Toronto have appealed to Indonesian citizens to increase their vigilance.
“Prepare respiratory protective equipment and follow the advice and instructions of local authorities. “Contact the nearest Rotary representative hotline immediately if you need assistance,” he concluded.
