Lawrence Stroll aims for two podiums for Aston Martin at the Canadian Grand Prix

F1 News: Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll is hoping to see both Aston Martin drivers finish on the podium at the Canadian Grand Prix as he aims to end Red Bull’s dominance in 2024.

Red Bull have won all seven rounds of the 2023 Formula 1 season so far, five of which have been won by Max Verstappen.

Meanwhile, Aston Martin have been a surprise so far this season, rising from seventh in the standings in 2022. Winter signing Fernando Alonso secured five podiums for his new team, who now sit third in the Championship builders.

Lance Stroll, whose start to the season was hampered by a pre-season wrist injury, couldn’t match his teammate’s form.

But Stroll senior hopes his son can become the first Canadian driver to step onto the podium at the Canadian Grand Prix since Jacques Villeneuve finished second in 1996.

“That was exactly the plan. A two-car podium, hopefully,” said Stroll at the Aston Martin event in New York.

“I am very confident. I’m sure this car will be very strong on the Montreal circuit, a perfect match for our car… so I’m really looking forward to getting home and really looking forward to having a great race.

Stroll confirmed that Aston Martin understands what it is missing in Catalunya and that the improvements it is making to the Canadian Grand Prix will help address any existing issues.

“I think we’re bringing a solution to that and some improvements in Canada,” continues Lawrence Stroll.

“I think he (Lance) showed in Barcelona, it takes six or seven races, to feel better… I’m sure they (both drivers) will be level at the end of the season.”
