F1 News: Lewis Hamilton says the progress the W14 car has shown in several previous series with an all-new upgrade could help them pick up speed at the Canadian GP.
Lewis Hamilton and George Russell successfully occupied the second and third podiums in the Spanish GP. This is a positive indication that the latest update of the Mercedes W14 car is paying off.
Meanwhile, Red Bull Racing’s dominance is unlikely to be matched in the near future. However, the German manufacturer is slowly closing the gap so that Hamilton is confident for the Canadian GP.
“We have made progress. Since the last race we have all been busy. The whole team has new energy,” said the Englishman, as quoted by Crash.
“We have the North Star (clear objectives), we know where we are going. We don’t know if this track is suitable for our car and its characteristics,” said Hamilton.
“It’s one of the drivers’ favorite circuits – the city, the circuit, the energy. The track is a bit like a go-kart track, throwing cars onto the pavement, big braking circuits that have always been my strength,” he insists.
Considering that Red Bull are still difficult to balance, The Silver Arrows will face Aston Martin, who are now the second best team on the F1 2023 grid. Their client team caused a public outcry after being placed second in the constructors’ standings.
Sadly, Aston Martin failed at the Spanish GP, a moment they certainly didn’t want to remember. The Silverstone team also tried to pay for the failure by launching several substantial improvements to race on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit.
