Qatar – A number of countries have been eliminated from the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Hosts Qatar are the first country not to qualify for the round of 16 after their two defeats.
After losing 0-2 to Ecuador, Qatar lost again to Senegal 1-3.
Provided the Netherlands and Ecuador already have four points by then, Qatar is certain to be eliminated before the start of the third game.
Next is Canada, the second team to be knocked out of the 2022 World Cup. Canada lost 1-4 to Croatia in the second game on Sunday, November 27, 2022.
Even though they had taken the lead first through Alphonso Davies as the game had just entered the second minute. But the early goal was not enough for Canada to surprise Croatia.
Croatia actually managed to score four goals in the return thanks to Andrej Kramaric (two goals), Marko Livaja and Lovro Majer.
Before losing to Croatia, Canada also lost 0-1 to Belgium in their first game.
Thus, Canada did not earn any points from the two games it played.
As Croatia and Morocco have already amassed four points, it is impossible for Canada to make up those points with one game to play. Canada will face Morocco in the final game.
Even though they were eliminated, Qatar and Canada still have things to fight for.
It is a mission to earn the first points in the history of their participation in the World Cup and also to maintain the dignity of their own nation. []
