HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTA – There are already two teams that have managed to secure their progression to the semi-finals of the Copa America 2024, Canada is also the last country to have the right to access this phase.
Canada achieved this feat after successfully defeating Venezuela in the quarter-finals of the Copa America 2024 on Saturday (6/7).
In the match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, USA, Canada managed to defeat Venezuela on penalties.
Canada managed to take the lead in the 13th minute thanks to a goal from Jacob Shaffelburg, and the first half ended with a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Venezuela was only able to equalize the score in the 65th minute thanks to Salomon Rondon’s goal. The score then lasted 1-1 until the final whistle.
According to the current rules, the match immediately went to a penalty shootout. At that point, both kickers of each team both recorded successful scores.
Interestingly, when the Venezuelan kicker failed to complete his mission, Canada did the same. Until the end, Canada managed to repel the sixth Venezuelan kicker.
Canada’s seventh kicker, Ismael Kone, was able to complete his mission and almost gave Canada a 3-4 win in the penalty shootout.
Canada also has the right to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2024 Copa America and become the second team to qualify for this phase after Argentina.
Interestingly, Argentina will face Canada in the semi-finals of the 2024 Copa America.
For additional information, there are also two other matches where two tickets to the semi-finals are still at stake, namely Uruguay against Brazil and Colombia against Panama.
