Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim contacted Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh to express Malaysia’s support for the Palestinian people and the creation of a humanitarian corridor in Rafah.
“I had a telephone conversation with Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh yesterday to express Malaysia’s strong support for the Palestinian people,” Anwar said via his social media account accessed Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur.
After being briefed on the current dire situation in Gaza, he said he strongly supported an immediate end to the bombing and the construction of a humanitarian corridor in Rafah.
He said it was important that Israel abandon its policy of usurpation, immediately reach a ceasefire with Hamas and try to find a peaceful solution to end the ongoing conflict.
It is urgent and important to prioritize the well-being and security of all those affected by the crisis in Gaza, he added.
With this in mind, Anwar said they were committed to providing humanitarian assistance, especially food and medicine, to alleviate the suffering of those in need.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir said he had a phone call with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki and received information on the latest situation of the Palestinian population , faced with massive bombings from Israel and tens of thousands of people. moved.
Zambry also called UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to offer Malaysia’s assistance if it needed it, particularly for the humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza.
